As the cost of power continues to rise, solar is the best way to save on your power bill while protecting our environment.

With a team of experienced solar experts to guide your process from start to finish, we're delivering solar to our local neighbourhood in the Taranaki as well as our neighbouring region, Manawatu.

Every moment of each day, the sun releases vast amounts of solar energy. Remarkably, if we could harness the entirety of the sun's energy production for just one hour, it would suffice to power the entire planet for an entire year.

Presently, humans are only tapping into a minuscule fraction, approximately 1/10,000th, of that available energy. Nevertheless, advancements in solar power are significantly enhancing our energy resources.

To capture this solar energy, we utilize solar photovoltaic (PV) panels that absorb light and convert it into direct current (DC). Subsequently, the DC is directed to an inverter within the system, transforming it into alternating current (AC), the form of energy used in homes.

It's crucial to note that only a small number of homes operate entirely on solar power. They remain connected to the primary electrical grid, allowing access to traditional energy when solar output is insufficient. This connection also enables surplus energy produced by the panels to be sold back into the grid.

The usual setup

In most cases, a solar power configuration for homes consists of three primary components.

First and foremost are the panels, whose size, quantity, and placement are tailored to the specific requirements of the home or commercial building. Typically situated on the north-facing roof to maximize sunlight exposure, these panels play a pivotal role in harnessing solar energy.

Another crucial element is the inverter, responsible for converting the captured DC from the panels into AC, the usable form of energy for the property.

While not obligatory, a battery can also be incorporated into the setup. Without a battery, the captured power must be either used immediately or transmitted to the grid. Introducing a battery allows for power storage, enabling later usage. Although batteries incur relatively high costs and are not widely adopted in New Zealand homes, the positive aspect is that ongoing advancements are driving increased cost efficiency and product quality. This trend suggests that contemporary offerings surpass those of a few years ago, with the expectation of continued improvement.

Before installing solar power, it's essential to undergo an energy consult for your property.

A consultation with a member of our team is essential to consider how we
can get the most out of solar for your home or business. The consultation serves several purposes:

ConsulationVectors-01.png

Clarifying your objectives, specifying what you intend
to power with solar and determining the required kW.

Evaluating the feasibility of installation, considering
factors such as shading from
trees or hills that might make
solar impractical.

Analyzing your power bill
to estimate potential monthly savings and calculate the payback period.

Examining your current setup and suggesting lifestyle or product changes to reduce energy consumption. By minimizing overall energy usage, there's potential to meet your home's power needs through solar alone.

This assessment involves a visit from an expert who considers factors like
roof angle, available space, household energy consumption, potential shading, and more.

In essence, the consult provides insights into whether solar power is a suitable solution for your home. Our consultations are completely free of charge, making it accessible to explore the option of solar power before committing to any payments.

  • Will my solar system require constant maintenance?
Solar systems require very little maintenance to run. There will be occasions when you may need to remove debris and leaves which could be obstructing the sunlight, but we think it's absolutely worth the task.
  • Can solar function in clouded weather?
A common misconception is certainly around solar not functioning in cloudy weather, which is in fact untrue. Solar systems will still generate 15-25% of their normal power output on a cloudy day, meaning that you won't miss out on power even if the weather's dreary.
  • Should I install a battery?
Unlike other companies, we will only sell you a battery providing you need it. Our experience tells us installing a battery in most domestic homes doesn't add up financially.
  • Should I be worried about products from China?
Currently, approximately 70% of all solar panel equipment is sourced from China, as many global companies opt to outsource their manufacturing to capitalize on the country's lower production costs. China has achieved this dominant market position through various contributing factors: Through substantial investments over the years, China now represents over half of the global demand for solar modules, predominantly utilized in large-scale solar power plants and expansive floating solar farms. The cost-effectiveness of China in the production of the electronics and industrial equipment essential for solar panel manufacturing further solidifies its leadership in the industry. Chinese manufacturers of solar panels benefit from significant financial incentives, enabling them to capture a substantial share of the global market. Therefore, if you're considering purchasing a solar panel manufactured in China, it's crucial to be mindful of the spectrum of quality available. Quality is not necessarily tied to the product's location of origin.
